As with aircraft, a boat is affected by what is called "apparent wind". This is the wind speed and direction that your craft THINKS the wind is coming from. This is often very different from the actual fact. Further, the angle and speed of the craft relative to the apparent wind also greatly affects how it is influenced by it.
The "Tail Feathers" wind speed indicator is an easy way to judge the "apparent" wind speed and direction. This is especially critical during close quarters or docking maneuvers.
A quick glance at the "Tail Feathers" and you will instantly know how the current wind is affecting your boat. This is a "must have" for the novice and pro alike.
With a little practice and better situational awareness your docking skills will show dramatic improvements.
Two different mounting types are available. The clamp on version simply clamps to any forward railing. The universal mount is a chain that can be mounted anywhere.
The further forward you mount your "Tail Feathers' the better. Keep in mind any obstructions on your boat that may affect the readings.
